Alkenes
Alkenes are a family of hydrocarbons characterized by the presence of at least one carbon-carbon double bond (C=C). Unlike alkanes, which contain only single bonds, alkenes are classified as unsaturated compounds. This unsaturation is due to the presence of the double bond, which means they contain fewer hydrogen atoms for a given number of carbon atoms compared to their alkane counterparts.
