This course helps you master the essential mathematical skills vital for modern engineering and manufacturing roles across the UK. You will develop a strong foundation in arithmetic, algebra, and trigonometry, learning to apply these principles to solve real-world problems. The curriculum covers accurate engineering calculations using BODMAS, working with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, ratios, and percentages for material requirements. You will learn to apply algebra for rearranging formulae, and geometry to calculate perimeters, areas, volumes, and mass, including for sheet metal. Furthermore, you will apply trigonometry to fabrication and machining tasks, interpret engineering drawings and statistical data, and confidently handle units and conversions.
