Covalent Bonding

Covalent bonding occurs between non-metal atoms. Unlike ionic bonding where electrons are transferred, covalent bonds involve the sharing of electrons between atoms. This sharing allows each atom to achieve a stable outer electron shell, typically a full octet (eight electrons) or a duet (two electrons for hydrogen), similar to the noble gases.
