Cultivating Awareness of Indigenous Cultures, Histories, and Perspectives

Cultivating Awareness of Indigenous Cultures, Histories, and Perspectives

What does it mean to truly "understand" Indigenous cultures in a Canadian context? This foundational course serves as an essential entry point for anyone seeking to build respectful, informed, and authentic relationships with Indigenous peoples. We move beyond the "beads and feathers" stereotypes to explore the sophisticated social, political, and spiritual systems that predated European arrival and continue to flourish today. Through a blend of historical deep-dives and contemporary cultural exploration, you will gain the tools to challenge systemic myths and appreciate the immense diversity of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. This is a journey of unlearning colonial biases and relearning the true history of the land we call Canada.
