Small Molecules
Small molecules are discrete units formed when a fixed number of atoms are held together by strong covalent bonds. These molecules typically have low relative molecular masses and consist of a few atoms, ranging from diatomic molecules like oxygen (O₂) to slightly larger ones such as water (H₂O) or carbon dioxide (CO₂). Their distinct, finite structure sets them apart from giant covalent or ionic structures.
